Types of Dental Veneers

If you'll be paying out-of-pocket, you should understand that there are two different types of veneers—and their pricing can be drastically different. Composite veneers are made of a composite resin and typically last for several years before needing replaced. These are much less expensive than porcelain veneers, which are designed to last for a decade or longer.
Preparation and Placement

Once your veneers are in, you'll come in for another appointment to have them placed. During this appointment, your dentist will slightly file down the surface of your tooth, which will improve adhesion. A resin cement is used to adhere the veneer to your tooth, and a UV light dries and sets it almost immediately. From there, you'll be all set! Your dentist will likely ask you to come in for a follow-up appointment in a few weeks to make sure no adjustments are needed.
Caring for Dental Veneers
Taking care of your dental veneers will help you avoid the need for early replacement, which can save you money. In general, you should treat your veneers just as you would your real teeth by brushing and flossing regularly. Just be careful to avoid abrasive toothpastes, which can scratch the surface of veneers and make them more prone to staining. You can also prevent staining by avoiding certain beverages, such as black coffee and red wine. From there, you can enjoy a more beautiful smile and greater confidence with your dental veneers!
